Alan Rees meets Chairman Tim Callard

On April 27th the Chairman of the National Society of Allotment & Leisure Gardeners, Allan Rees, paid us a visit in Newton Abbot.

Vice Chairman Roy Tucker and Secretary Francesca Colomb took him on a tour of the fields before meeting with Chairman Tim Callard, Christine the Membership Secretary, Clive Burton the Coach Road Working Party Chairman, and some of the Town Councillors at the Coach Road site.

We walked around the site before attending the Allotments Sub Committee Meeting at the Town Hall. Allan was impressed with the plans for Coach Road and made several positive suggestions.

Before the meeting ended he told everyone present that he had been very impressed with the state of the plots and the fields. He complimented the sub committee and N.A.D.C.A.A. on the spirit of unity, particularly the way it had addressed the initial proposal for developing the Coach Road site.

He also said that one of the reasons he had offered to visit us was that he wanted to show the support of the NSALG at a time when interest in allotments nationwide was on the increase.

Before leaving he thanked the members of the Association for an enjoyable afternoon and evening and said that it was good to see how much progress we had made in such a short space of time.

My sincere thanks to him for giving up his day for us.

Tim Callard - Chairman
