The Sue-Em Society hits NADCAA

The knock on effect of people lodging claims with Insurance Companies just to make money has finally filtered down through to us. The following conditions now apply to us and must be adhered to by all members for our insurance to remain valid.

Employers Liability
1.A copy of the Insurance Certificate must be displayed on all fields (see accompanying notice).

2.Certificates must be retained for 40 years (held by the Secretary).

3.Any accidents involving Committee Members in the course of voluntary work must be reported to the Insurers in case of legal action at some later date.

4.All Accidents must be reported to the Secretary who will keep an Accident Book, this will be kept as a record, which will be referred to by the insurers in the case of a claim.

Public Liability
It is a condition of the policy that in respect of the burning of “all debris” the following precautions are taken on each occasion.

a)All fires must be in a cleared area at a distance of at least 10 metres (33 feet) from any property, this includes houses, greenhouses and sheds.

b)Fires are not to be left unattended at any time.

c)Means of extinguishing the fire should it get out of control i.e. watering cans of water should be kept avaible for immediate use.

d)All fires must be extinguised at least one hour before leaving the site.

Pathway Warranty / Fireworks

It is a condition precendent to liability that the Insured Association and/or its members ensure that all pathways/footpaths are maintained to a reasonable standard and kept free from debris. There is no cover for firework displays.
