Trevor Spencer 4/2/42 - 17/7/05
It
is with much sadness and regret that I must inform you of
the sudden and tragic loss of Trevor Spencer, a member at
Decoy Field since the early 1970’s.
Trevor joined the Management Committee last year and with
his son Andrew, daughter’s Helen and Carol and wife
Margaret contributed a huge amount to the Association. It
was thanks to him and his family that we have the correct
insurance cover, email, a questions forum, a web site and
IT support.
A devoted family man Trevor lived for his wife and children
not forgetting his dog Chloe. He was fascinated by science
and especially space. I often got emails with the latest
photographs from a spacecraft millions of miles away.
Very occasionally our lives are touched by someone who’s
actions and friendship, indirectly and sometimes without
them even realising or knowing make our lives better, when
this happens we must all cherish that moment and count ourselves
very lucky. Trevor was such a person and I know that he
touched many people’s lives and that all of them were
the better for it.
My wife Christine & I will miss his friendship, humour,
and support, as will all of the members of the Management
Committee.
A person’s religious beliefs are private, but if there
is a heaven, and it has allotments, I am sure Trevor is
already tending a plot and maybe trying to erect the greenhouse
he never quite found the time to put up.
I cannot express how much this loss has affected all of
us on the Management Committee. I send our deepest heartfelt
sympathies to his nearest and dearest Margaret, Andrew,
Helen and Carol.
When the day dawned on Monday 18th July the world was minus
one truly good person.
